We needed a long rest to reenergize and process what we actually did today. After that extended down time, we woke up and had some time to really appreciated the Park Hyatt Paris.
After planning our day, we heading out to the Louvre. Got lost on the Metro. We knew it would eventually happen. We ended up going the opposite direction, but figured it out and finally stopped at a station about 4 blocks away.
As expected, our hotel room was not quite ready when we finally made it into the heart of Paris using the Metro. We dropped off our luggage and followed our Frommer’s tour book to sightsee!

Place de la Concorde, the city’s largest square

Pistachio Gelato from Amorino next to the Octogonal “Bassin”. Tasty!

Jardin des Tuileries, the Louvre is at the end

pont de Solferino/La Seine

Musee d’Orsay

Artisan Patisserie Boulanger. We had Chicken and Salami Baguettes

Cathedrale de Norte-Dame
Wow after a long travel day, we were exhausted and it was only 3:00PM. We took the Metro back to our Hotel. Got to our room, cleaned up and knocked out.
Yes, we made it to Paris safely around 8:10AM! But our next step was not so much fun.
We took a taxi from Charles de Gaulle Airport to our first hotel, Park Hyatt Vendome. This turned out to be a mistake. The taxi was stuffy (no air), manual transmission (nauseating ride) and it was bumper to bumper traffic. Ughh. We finally had enough of the ride after what we felt it was going to take longer than our plane trip. We told the cab to drop us off at the next closest metro station. Final bill for the taxi was a kick in the crotch. :[
We jumped on the Metro at the Porte de la Chapelle station and we confusingly rode the metro for free (I guess because the entry gates were under construction) to the Opera stop, the closest metro station to our hotel. It was an easy ride and very quick.
Lesson learned. DON’T TAKE THE TAXI.
